Description
Standing 630.9 meters above sea level, Mt. Cheontae is one of the three famous mountains of Yangsan, along with Mt. Cheonseong and Mt. Yeongchuk. It has been famous for its scenic beauty since the ancient times, and is widely known as a hiking course in Busan, Ulsan, and Masan due to its connection to the Nakdong River to the southwest, the Samnangjin pumped storage power plant dam to the northwest, and Baenaegol, a famous summer resort, to the northeast.
In particular, the sunset over the Nakdong River from the top of Mt. Cheontae is so awe-inspiring and mysterious, drawing ritual thanksgiving poems on eight scenic views. The first line of the Cheontae sunset poem reads, "The Sora Valley sunlight bathes the sky, and the fairy Mago descends in the clouds to wash her hair." As such, the Nakdong River sunset has become so famous. The 12-km long valley from Cheontae Pavilion in the south to Yongyeon Waterfall boasts a clear and pristine natural landscape, retaining its mystery since the ancient times.
There is also a small hermitage before one reaches the top of the mountain. As you climb up the valley, the rocks form cliffs, and when you reach the top, the wide rocks lie flat, giving the impression of clouds under the sky. As you listen to the sound of the flowing water and soak in the surrounding scenery, you will feel like you are in the utopia of Dowongyeong, playing chess or Go with the gods, and forgetting the cares of this world.
