- Tourist destination : Baenaegol Valley
- Location : Dae-ri and Seon-ri, Wondong-myeon, Yangsan
Description
This is a valley surrounded by the high peaks that are collectively referred to as the Alps of Yeongnam. It is called Baenaegol Valley, comprised of native Korean words that can be loosely translated as a “valley with a stream and pear trees,” because of the wild pear trees growing in its surroundings. The area presents splendid landscapes, and mono maple sap can be obtained in spring. It was designated as the Water Supply Protection Area in 2000, and its designation as Natural Recreation Area was cancelled in 2001 in order to prohibit people from entering the water and cooking food on the banks. Still, it is a great place to enjoy the majestic beauty shaped and sculpted by Mother Nature. The mono maple and apples grown in this area are specialty products of Yangsan that are popular nationwide.
