Description
Naewonsa Temple, which slowly reveals itself when you climb up the Naewonsa Valley, was one of the 89 hermitages founded by Great Monk Wonhyo during the establishment of Daedunsa Temple. Originally called Naewonsaji Temple Site, the temple was reconstructed by Bhikkhunī Suok after it was destroyed in a fire during the Korean War. The serene atmosphere and the sublime natural environment of Cheonseongsan Mountain make this temple a truly unique place. It even contains various cultural assets that provide a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Goryeo and Joseon such as the Painting of the Amitabha Buddha Triad (Tangible Cultural Property No. 406) and the Gilt-Bronze Safe (Gilt-Bronze Drum) of Naewonsa Temple (Treasure No. 1734). There is a large parking lot to bring convenience to visitors.
