Temperature
The city had its lowest winter temperature to date (-16.7℃) in 1936, and its highest (-6.6℃) in 1993. It had its highest summer temperature (38.6℃) in 1983 and its lowest (31.3℃) in 1981.
Humidity
The humidity is high in summer and low in winter, and August has 77% humidity, making it the most humid month.
Precipitation
- Influenced by the northeast air currents from the eastern Sobaeksan Mountain Range, the city has more precipitation than other cities, and has less snowfall, making it a good place to live in.
- The first frost falls in October, and the last, in early November. The snow falls in mid-December, but compared to other regions, the city has less days with snowfall: only five days a year.
Regional Characteristics
Location
- Yangsan is located in southeastern Gyeongsangnam-do and is bounded by Taebaek Mountain Range in the east, Sobaeksan Mountain Range in the west, and Jeongjok Mountain Range in the north. Gajisan Provincial Park, featuring Yeongchuksan Mountain, boasts the Tongdosa and Naewonsa temples. Yangsan shares its southeast border with Busan, and its western border with Miryang and Gimhae.
- The city’s transport networks are connected to Gyeongbu Railroad Line to the west, to National Road No. 7 to the east, and to Gyeongbu Expressway and National Road No. 35 at the city center, giving Yangsan a good transport system to the city’s north and south, and making the city conveniently accessible from Busan and Ulsan.
