Garbage Separation Tips

Recyclable waste : remove stickers, rinse, fold, bind, and dispose.

How to separate garbage

• detached houses and others : Separate by item
  • Plastic, cans, bottles, and films : Put into transparent (translucent) bags
  • Bulky paper and Styrofoam should be thrown out separately
• Apartment houses : Operated by their own regulations

• Paper

  

  Newspapaer, books, notes etc (30Cm)

  • Garbage should not be wet and must be tidied and bound

  Vinyl coated cover and leaflet, springs from notebooks cannot be recycled (take vinyl coated cover off)

  Milk cartons and paper cups

  • Rinse them with water and dry and compress them before disposing

• Cans and scrap metal

  

  Iron cans and aluminum cans (remove and insert pull-tab into the cans)

  • Clear contents and rinse with water before disposing

  Take plastic lids out and be sure there is nothing inside, such as cigarette butts

  Butane gas and pesticide cans

  • Make a hole in other cans

  Take plastic lids off and be sure there is nothing inside, such as cigarette butts

  Iron plates, nickel silver, and stainless steel products

  • Separate iron plates, nickel silver, and stainless steel products, remove any foreign substances, then bind before disposing

  Scrap iron stained with paint and oil or mixed with other materials, such as plastic, should not be recycled

• Plastic

  

  PET bottles, yogurt bottles, other kinds of plastic

  • Check the separate disposal indicator and dispose only permitted items(Take off and remove caps or lids made of different materials and check if there is a sign for recycling before disposing)
  • PVC pipes (not for industrial use) can be recycled (styrofoam packaging can be collected by sellers)

  Composite materials, such as toys, are not recyclable, except for industrial PVC

• Styrofoam

  • Remove vinyl from styrofoam buffer material used for cup noodles, as well as lids of saucers/plates; clean before disposing
  • Take synthetic resin buffer material of electronic products back to the sellers

  Synthetic resin coated with other materials and insulator mixed with foreign substances cannot be recycled

• Glass bottles

  

  Bottles for alcohol beverages, soft drinks, etc.

  • Clean the inside and remove cork if made from other materials before disposing

  Beer and soju bottles can be sold back to sellers (separate into colors of transparent, blue, green, and brown)
  Plate glass and mirror cannot be recycled

• Films

  

  Packaging for snacks, instant noodle, bags, etc

  • Dispose in clean state

  Excluding when there are no markings indicating separate disposal

• Disposable vinyl

  

  Disposable vinyl bags

  • Remove contents and foreign substances and put into bags before disposing

  reselling to sellers is possible if the bags are bought

• Clothing

  

  General clothing, jumpers, etc. (30Cm)

  • Make sure the material is not wet, pack in burlap bags or bind, then dispose

  Complex materials products like carpets and blankets cannot be recycled

• Fluorescent lamps

  

  Round, tubular, lamp-type ect.

  • Remove packing materials and do not break

• Agricultural waste

  

  Pesticide containers

  • Remove caps/lids and dispose at recycling depository

  Rural vinyl waste

  • Separate into materials, remove dirt and gravel, bind materials by size, and dispose at recycling depository

Rules for Disposing Recyclable Materials

• Recyclable waste disposed after the designated time will not be collected.
• - Use standard plastic garbage bags with the capacity of 50 or more liters to dispose pf blankets, pillows, and other large but light items.
